Help and Research Guides

The Reference Librarians of Sawyer Library have authored dozens of Resource Guides to provide Suffolk students and faculty with useful research options. These annotated subject-oriented guides cover everything from how to find industry information to how to find materials in marine science.

Guides usually start by suggesting the best library databases for identifying valuable academic journal literature or reference book entries on a topic. They will also list significant print materials in the subject area. In addition, librarians have attempted to identify websites that are reliable and useful enough to warrant consideration by researchers at a university level.  (Most general websites do NOT deserve academic consideration!)

Start by clicking on one of the general subject categories in the left frame to explore our Resource Guides.

We also recommend reviewing the Sawyer Library’s Full Text Web Collections.
