For all its disruption, the Big Dig offered a decade’s worth of inspiration for photographers. Their work is showcased in “Images of Transformation: From Big Dig to Rose Kennedy Greenway” at Suffolk University’s Adams Gallery Nov. 5, 2004 through Jan. 18, 2005.
This exhibit of photographs, drawings and video captured the vibrant colors, light and atmosphere of the nation’s largest public works project and gave a virtual tour of the planned Rose Kennedy Greenway.
The exhibit’s images tracee the transformation of downtown Boston -- from a city bisected by a raised highway, through a decade of Big Dig construction, to a place where harmony will be restored through the Rose Kennedy Greenway.
From the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge, Boston’s newest landmark, to the depressed central artery, these magnificent photographs preserve the drama and beauty of this enormous undertaking, which has changed the face of Boston.
