Dear Suffolk Community,

I am pleased to inform you that the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) Board of Directors today approved Suffolk’s new 10-year Institutional Master Plan (IMP), as well as the Modern Theater dormitory project, and zoning for the new 20 Somerset Street academic building.

The Institutional Master Plan is a comprehensive document providing the BRA and Mayor with a planning framework for our future expansion over the next 10 years.

This approval allows the University to go forward with an anticipated fall 2008 construction start for the Modern Theater project. Projected opening of this new combined residence hall and theater will be fall 2010.

We will also now commence with the final design and necessary permits for the 20 Somerset Street project, which will be the new state-of-the-art home of Suffolk’s New England School of Art & Design, as well as approximately 400 additional classroom seats.

More information about this plan and the two specific projects will be forthcoming soon.

This good news for the University represents over a year of hard work and persistence by the entire Suffolk team. Thanks and congratulations to all involved!
