• Buying recycled

Are you choosing to buy recycled?

Create demand for recycled materials by buying recycled products!  Recycling is important but its impact is more powerful when we also purchase products made from recycled content.  This is known as "closing the loop."

For assistance on how your department can purchase environmentally friendlier materials, please visit the below links or contact recycle@suffolk.edu.

What is post-consumer content?

The manufacturing of a new product using materials that have already served their intended uses and have been separated for recycling to be used as a raw material.

Easy steps toward "closing the loop":

  • Buy recycled materials (the higher the percentage of post-consumer content, the better!)
  • Buy products that can be recycled
  • Buy products with minimal packaging

Benefits to buying products made from recycled materials:

Conserving natural resources (including trees, water, electricity, oil), protecting wildlife habitat, and diverting useful items from landfills (saving both space and money) are just a few benefits.
