Boston Music Theatre Project

Forging the future of the American Musical through productions of new work.

The Boston Music Theatre Project (BMTP) nurtures new musical work of exceptional promise in its formative stages through readings and workshop productions. Dr. Marilyn Plotkins founded BMTP in 1987 as the first professional organization in the Greater Boston area dedicated exclusively to the development of new work in music theatre and later integrated the project into the academic framework of the newly formed Theatre Department to engage Suffolk students in the development process. Many BMTP developments continue into the professional world, such as Laura Harrington and Jenny Giering’s Crossing Brooklyn, providing students an invaluable learning and pre-professional opportunity.
