• MBA Programs: Core Course Waiver Policy

All MBA Programs, including the Global MBA, are based on the strength of the MBA core cirriculum.

Depending on your educational background, Suffolk MBA core courses (24 credits) may be waived. This decreases the number of credits and courses needed to earn the degree.

Core courses are waived with appropriate undergraduate or graduate courses, with an earned grade of B or better, taken within five years prior to entering the Suffolk MBA.

For example, a B+ in Organizational Behavior at the undergraduate level, taken within five years of entering the Suffolk MBA, will waive MBA 610 Organizational Behavior, thereby decreasing the number of credits needed to earn the degree.

Transcripts of all admitted students are automatically evaluated for core course waivers.

Alternatively, students may take proficiency exams at a cost of $150 each.  Proficiency exams are available for all core courses.

Regardless of proficiency exams and waiver or transfer credits, all students MUST complete a minimum of 31 credits (10 courses and the one-credit Effective Career Planning course) in the Business School to earn the Suffolk MBA. Global MBAs must complete a minimum of 34 credits. In some instances, students may have to substitute Sawyer Business School electives for waived core courses to achieve the minimum required credits.
