Undergraduate business students prepare for their majors by taking foundation courses in the business school and a selection of courses in the arts and sciences. These are designed to help you more effectively develop your critical thinking and communication skills, which are central to effective leadership, management, and entrepreneurship. All majors include a focus on people in the workplace, and include dimensions of ethics, team skills, diversity, and leadership.

You will also study core business subjects designed to provide you with a background necessary for the fundamentals of running a business. Beginning in your junior year, you will take major courses that will provide depth in either management or entrepreneurship. Suffolk Business School students also have the unique opportunity to take a second major in Global Business (IB).  To provide graduating students with the strongest education possible, the Global Business major offered by the Management department is always paired with a functional major. The Global Business major enhances a student’s educational program through coursework, language study, and travel experiences. The Business School places emphasis on global leadership, and the Global Business major provides students with a breadth of knowledge and experiences.

In addition to the general education and business core requirements, management and entrepreneurship majors take free electives. Some students choose to use a portion of these toward a minor in liberal arts (e.g., psychology, sociology, communications, history, foreign languages) or business (accounting, marketing, business law, global business, public administration, information systems, or finance). It is also possible to use free electives toward a second major. Students are urged to discuss these options with their academic advisor to ensure proper sequencing of courses. The course catalog and your academic advisor can provide more details on double majoring.
