Panelists include
Joshua Hochberg is a partner at the law firm McKenna, Long and Aldridge, LLP, where he specializes in internal investigations and white collar defense.  Mr. Hochberg was chief of the Fraud Section at the U.S. Department of Justice where he handles major corporate, healthcare and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act cases. He was the He was the Acting United States Attorney for the Enron investigation and supervised investigations into accounting fraud at Health South, Enterysis, Gen Re, AOL and other companies.   He recently completed his work as the Court appointed Examiner in the Refco bankruptcy case. His 400 page report details the fraud that caused this very high profile billion dollar Wall Street failure shortly after the company’s IPO and listing on the New York Stock Exchange.  The report analyzes and documents the role of accounting and legal professionals and has led to numerous suits and other legal actions against them.  His focus on the liability of the third party professionals advising Refco, including both accountants and lawyers, sets the stage for this symposium.  

James  Rehnquist, a trail lawyer and litigation partner in the law firm Goodwin Procter. A former federal prosecutor in the Organized Crime Strike Force and Economic Crimes units of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts now specializes in white collar criminal defense, including the representation of clients in SEC and other governmental and regulatory investigations. He has broad experience representing corporations and senior executives in publicly traded companies in connection with federal corporate fraud investigations. He is a graduate of the Boston University School of Law where he served as the editor-in-chief of the law review. His law review publications at Stanford and BU include analyses of current constitutional issues.

John J. O’Connor is the former vice chairman, Services for PricewaterhouseCoopers. At PwC, his responsibilities included leadership of PwC’s three lines of service: Assurance, Tax, and Financial Advisory Services. John was previously the leaders of the assurance practice for U.S. and served as client services partner for several of PwC’s largest global clients. He has also served as faculty member at Stanford University’s Directors College. He is a member of the Massachusetts Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. John is proud graduate of Suffolk University and Trustee of Suffolk.
