Christie Iwanicki, a freshman guard from Newtown, Conn., was named as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week for the second time this season after earning all-tournament team honors during last week’s league championships. Iwanicki netted a team-high 13 points in a 53-52 semi-final victory over Norwich while adding eight points in a 72-56 quarterfinal round triumph over Rivier, and she collected six points in last Saturday’s championship game setback at Emmanuel.
