Semester in Prague Program

A semester-long study abroad program in Prague is offered each semester to honors-level Suffolk University students as well as to students of other universities with an appropriate GPA.

The program has been offered in cooperation with the Philosophical (Liberal Arts) Faculty of Charles University since the spring semester of 2004. It currently has 74 alumni.

The curriculum includes Czech and Central European history, culture, politics and economics; American studies from a European/Czech perspective; Ethnicity and National Identity in Central Europe; and electives in American or European literature, humanities, and the social sciences. Before departing for Prague, and continuing upon arrival, students will receive extensive orientation sessions.  Upon arrival in Prague, program participants will learn the basics of the Czech language in an intensive three-week Survival Czech language course. The program also includes cultural visits and excursions. All courses are taught in English. Students receive academic credit from Suffolk University in Boston.

Students stay in Charles University dormitories and have access to the University’s dining halls throughout the city. The cost of the program is approximately $15,000, which covers Suffolk tuition, cultural excursions, room and board, and a transportation pass for the entire stay. Airfare is not included in this figure. (For breakdown, see Cost of the Program.)
